Funnies

1.  Natalie is “reading” an article about wooly mammoths in the doctor’s office: (my spelling is an attempt to accommodate her pronunciation)

“The ruly mammoth is 14 inches like bunny rabbits or kids. It is extince. To find out more call 372457. “

2. Seth has some activities with kids that live an HOUR from our house, so there is some driving involved in all this.  Friday night, Natalie and I drove him out to meet his friends and decided to hang out in that area. She was hungry and we drove around looking for a pizza place.  She spotted Giordano’s Pizzeria and said, “Let’s go there! I LOVE that place! I threw up there!”

So yes. We had dinner there. She didn’t throw up this time.

3. Natalie woke up late this morning because I decided to let her sleep in – half day at school, which really means only 2.5 hours of school. Well, she wakes up and says, “I want to go to school!”

Me:  Okay – hurry up and get dressed and I’ll whip you over there.

Natalie:  Is it okay if I ride a skateboard over there?

(Aside – the kid can’t ride a skateboard.  She can maybe sit on one and keep from tipping over. That’s it.)

Me (under my breath, forgetting she has superhero hearing): Sure, if you don’t mind the falling, getting hurt, and dieing part.

Natalie (enthusiastically, clearly having heard me): OKAY!! I’ll get my shoes on.

Spring and Remembering…

Nat went out and successfully dodged all the butterflies on our lilac bush, coming in with some flowering branches.  So she set them here to remember our sweet, much-loved, very-missed dog, Tulip.

“I’m too big!”

The child I have struggled to keep fed, lo these almost 14 years, has decided she is too big. She looks at her (very skinny) calves and says, “MOM! Look how huge I am getting!  I cannot be this huge!”

Here are her stats – you tell me, is she too big?

Height 5′ 0″ (10th percentile)

Weight 91 # (11th percentile)

ankle  7 “

wrist 5.5″

thigh 15″

She wears a size 3 shoe and extra small adult pants, which are still too loose! (We just bought some tonight.)

Her teacher, Mrs. Pouska (pronounced Poe’ ska) is shorter than Natalie, she says (not really true, the teacher is joking) and Nat things this is just plain WRONG!

“I’m taller than Pouska, Mom” is a repeated lament of late. She jiggles her VERY skinny calves (gets that from her Dad) and says we should remove those.  The funny thing is, any fat on her body hides “behind her” if you get my drift.  She hasn’t realized that, and I hope she doesn’t! She certainly does not need to lose any weight. How many people do you know that are 5 feet tall and weigh less than 95 pounds?

I WISH I had 15″ thighs.  No, I will not measure my thighs and give you the number for comparison.  I cannot believe you asked!!

What is the saying? Youth is wasted on the young? SOOOOOOO true!
